Paula Murphy Biography:-

Paula Murphy is a well-known researcher in the field of genetic regulation of embryonic development. Her research, which began during her postgraduate studies in 1987, focuses on the relationship between gene expression patterns and gene function. Her specialization in detailed expression analysis has contributed significantly to her work in the development of the limbs and facial region of vertebrate embryos.

Despite her success in the field of embryonic development, Paula Murphy’s life story is not just limited to research. She was born and raised in Granada Hills, California, where she started her racing career at Pomona in 1959. At first, she raced an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider for John E. English and achieved some success. However, by 1961-62, she had recorded several first and many second places, mostly driving the Adam-Mitchell Special but also driving Porsche 550, 356, and a 718 RSK entered by Vasek Polak.

Paula’s racing career took a significant turn when she received a call from Bill Dredge, the Automotive Editor for the LA Times. He asked her if she would like to drive a car coast-to-coast, border-to-border, and set some speed records. She agreed, and he asked if she would like to recommend another lady to accompany her. She referred him to Barbara Nieland, and together, they began their sports car racing career. A week later, Paula got a call from Andy Granatelli that resulted in driving a Studebaker Avanti coast-to-coast for the Ford Transcontinental Speed record. In total, the pair set four transcontinental speed records.
