Rober Laaksonen Obituary, Death – It was on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 when Robert “Rob” J. Laaksonen, who was 77 years old and lived in Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away. Cloquet was the location where he was born on February 27, 1946. His parents were John and Erna (Morken) Laaksonen. As a member of the graduating class of Cloquet High School in 1964, he received his diploma.
Additionally, Rob attended the University of Minnesota – Duluth in order to continue his studies. Rob worked at Potlatch for more than 25 years before taking his retirement in the year 2002. During his time with the Cloquet Connection, he frequently traveled with them to show his support for the University of Maryland hockey team.
Rob’s wife of 47 years, Gail Laaksonen, his children Anne Laaksonen-Fineday and Matt Laaksonen, his five grandkids Molly (Josephine Umpierre) Fineday and Greenlee Fineday, as well as Rehn, Ehvi, and Olin Laaksonen, and his siblings Ronald Laaksonen, Kareen Brissett, and Rex (Mary) Laaksonen are among those who survive him when he passes away. His parents and his cousin and buddy, Johnny Everson, passed away before him. He was the last of his blood relatives.
A gathering to celebrate Rob’s life will take place at the Scanlon Community Center on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in order to pay tribute to his lasting legacy. Those who knew him are all cordially invited to attend. Guests are strongly urged to dress in a relaxed manner, as Rob probably would have preferred. As an alternative to sending flowers, the family of Rob would appreciate memorial contributions sent to the American Stroke Association.
